myPhotoEdit update available!
I’ve just uploaded the latest update for myPhotoEdit - the image editor for all and sundry.
This update adds a selection information for the Marquee-tool, a font menu for annotations, support for the latest RAW image formats, improves the overall performance and fixes some glitches…

Daily Snippet
As written before - the IKImageKit and IKImageView are awesome classes, but they are so deficiently documented and sadly all the fun stuff is private…
I always wanted for the myPhotoEdit app an information about the selection when using the ‘Marquee-tool’ - that’s one of those things even Photoshop does not well. From the Preview.app I knew (or better: assumed) that the IKImageKit must be able to do so and after hundreds of wrong attempts I finally succeeded todaynight:
There are some undocumented delegate methods to work with:- (void) selectionRectAdded: (IKImageView *) imageView;
- (void) selectionRectRemoved: (IKImageView *) imageView;
- (void) selectionRectChanged: (IKImageView *) imageView;
And there is a private method for the selectionRect:CGRect selection = [imageView selectionRect];
But you have to appease the compiler first:@interface IKImageView (CompilerSTFU)
- (CGRect)selectionRect
@end
Of course one should first check wether the IKImageView responds to selectionRect - Apple may rename or delete it in the future… -

Without I would have to read a book or even worse - I had to socialize with real people :-0
But so I can watch Mad Men.

Tip of the day
As most of my other apps (which have something to do with text) there is no need for a mouse to publish a post with myTumblr. Open it with a launcher (like myAppLauncher or LaunchBar) - select kind (e.g. cmd+2 for a text post), cycle with the tab key thru the fields and publish with cmd+shift+D (as known from Mail.app for example) and quit with cmd+Q…
